Description
Incubator is brand new in box. It is ideal for hatching lizards, snakes and birds eggs.a digital temperature and humidity reading and setting,a fan to circulate the air for even distribution of heat.LED light for easy viewingPulse thermostat for accurate temperature. It is important to run the incubator for at least 2 weeks in order to adjust and maintain the required temperature within the incubator prior to placing the eggs in it. It is recommended to place the incubator in a location where it can remain during the whole incubation period. It is recommended that the incubator is placed away from direct sunlight, air drafts or additional heating appliances or heaters within the home or place of incubation. In very hot weather monitor the incubator to make sure it does not over heat, move into a cooler location if this starts to occur, it is critical to locate the incubator in a temperature friendly enviroment. This is done in order to make sure you do not affect the operation of the incubator. It is recommended that you check the incubator minimum twice daily to make sure that the power has not been interrupted and the required temperature and humidity is maintained. It is recommended that a digital external thermometer with a probe is used to verify the temperature within the incubator. When checking the eggs please don't leave the incubator open for too long as this will affect the temperature within the incubator. REPTAPETS incubator comes with a small fan fitted inside. It's recommended to run the fan continuously during incubation in order for even distribution of heat throughout the incubator. Many different substrates can be used. For example vermiculite, perlite, sphagnum moss etc .. The most widely used is vermiculite in a ratio of 1: 1 with water. Place then required vermiculate into an airtight container and add the required amount of water. For example 100 grams of water added to 100 grams of vermiculite. Turn on and run the REPTAPETS incubator for at least 2 weeks to warm up the moist vermiculite and adjust the incubator to the required temperature. Care should be taken when removing the eggs from the female. It is important not to turn or rotate the eggs as this will cause the embryo to die. Eggs can be marked with a soft pencil at their highest point to distinguish which side is up. The eggs can be removed on by one or in a clump and placed on the damp vermiculite. The container holding the vermiculite and eggs should be airtight and should not allow the humidity to evaporate. Place this container in the REPTAPETS incubator that has been running at the required temperature for at least two weeks, generally between 27-32 degrees Celsius. Make sure to place the probe of the incubator measuring the temperature inside the airtight hatching container as to get a more accurate reading. Incubation times very according to the species being hatched but usually vary between 50-60 days for most Australian species. Remember to open the lid of the hatching container at least once a week to allow for oxygen exchange. REPTAPETS incubator can be used to hatch bird eggs. Unlike reptile eggs bird eggs must be rotated twice daily in order for the embryo not to die. Fill the tray at the bottom of the incubator with water. Please check and maintain the level of the water on a regular basis. Do not allow the water to evaporate as the eggs will dry out and the embryos will die. Run the incubator for at least 1 week prior to incubation. Once the desired temperature has been reached and is maintained you are ready to place the eggs in it. Take you bird eggs and mark the top and bottom of the egg with a pencil or a non toxic marker. Place the eggs on the wire tray in the incubator with one of the marks uppermost. Close the lid and check regularly to make sure the required temperature is maintained. Twice daily rotate the eggs clockwise 180 degrees until the mark on the bottom of the egg is uppermost.
