Description
<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]--> HANDCRAFTED Check our store for items at Buy It Now prices. This coat tree is crafted from a single Aspen tree. It is extremely stable. No pegs were added by us and yet there are eight hanging branches. The top branches would easily accommodate a cowboy hat or long overcoat, there are big branches and small branches and grooved knots (see pics) to hang camera cases purses and backpacks, too. ...or use it as a display stand for your hanging plants or collections. However you choose to use this piece you will be guaranteed a unique piece sure to please for many generations. The base is crafted from the branch of a 700 year old Bristlecone Pine Tree. ...and... all of the photos are taken of   the actual Aspen log item offered in this listing. "Each wood item tells a story; growing tall and strong in the mountains, a colorful tree slowly matures . . . its legacy is revealed in the form of beautiful colors, knots, insect marks, and cracks". We do make custom sizes on request. Our line of Aspen log furniture & decor is an example of rustic elegance. Though made of log it is finished log work. It is hand crafted by us, at LOG REFLECTIONS, using logs that are hand selected for beauty and character. This is a natural oil finish...all color is provided by nature. Attention to detail and effort to highlight the natural beauty of Aspen logs, and the creation of durable pieces are our commitment to you. We hand peel the logs, using a draw knife. We then sand the logs to a smooth sheen, hand rubbing them with Danish Wood Oil, for a penetrating finish that won't chip or peel. This finish adds dimension to the grain and color, which makes Aspen wood such a beautiful choice for home furnishings. This coat stand is finished with polyurethane to protect against UV and moisture A beautiful gift for you, or anyone on your list. Dimensions: The actual logs: 80" H ...23" W Base is approximately 16" Diameter                                  Classic Aspen is the smoothest of the line. It lacks in knots and burls and insect trails, but soars in golden beauty, with natural streaks of wood grain.Knots are branches that have been shortened. Once sanded smooth, the rings are exposed allowing you to see the different ring colors. Insect Trails are caused by insects that burrow under the bark of a live Aspen Tree. Once the bark is removed this look is exposed. The insects are gone but evidence of their hard work is left behind. The Burled look is made of Colorado aspen and pine that have "burls".Burls are created when a live aspen is scarred by lightning, animal scrapes or when other falling trees tear sections of the bark away. When the tree heals around the damage, it creates a blackened scar or "burl". This line is the most three-dimensional and colorful of all aspen furniture. The aspen is a tree of paradoxes. While aspen is typically a successional species in the West, dependent upon disturbance (primarily fire) for regeneration, it also forms climax communities in some locations (DeByle and Winokur 1985). While individual aspen ramets (trunks sprouted vegetatively) are among the shortest-lived trees in western forests, a continuous clone can be an incredibly long-lived organism—some conjecture that well-established clones date back 1 million years (Mitton and Grant 1996). All of these items made of Natural Pine or Aspen. To maintain beauty and integrity of the wood we recommend regular maintenance. Cracks And Checks: Cracks and checks are inherent in the natural materials used to create Aspen Log furniture and shall not be considered defects. Cracks or checks may occur in the logs which enhance the uniqueness of each piece. If a naturally occurring check renders a piece unsafe or unsound, we will repair or replace it. Checking is a natural process that occurs naturally in log work. As wood dries it causes cracks or checks. To minimize this checking process I recommend using Watco Natural danish Wood Oil on all indoor furnishings at least 2 times per year. Watco Oil Finish is available internationally at Home Depot. Outdoor furnishings must be treated for weather protection. I recommend using a spray Varathane, or any oil based polyurethane, on these items a minimum of 3 times per year.
