Italian paintings on glass during the 14th and 15th centuries were associated with Venice and the Island of Murano. By the 17th century, painting on glass had spread to Austria and the characteristics of this work began to be influenced by a more popular form of Art, which also led to the development of small family industries of painters on glass.. In the United States there are only two artists who have mastered the technique of reverse painting on glass; Azzulina and Ulla Darni.
