The Oceans are made of Black Onyx which surround a mosaic of land masses in turquoise, malachite, red coral, jade, mother-of-pearl, and amethyst, among others. Our world globes are crafted of hand-cut, hand-fitted semi-precious stones delineating land and ocean with silver inlay for latitude and longitude lines. Each gemstone globe is handmade and takes approximately 4-8 weeks to produce. All globes are made using the same procedure regardless of the size of the globe. Semi-precious stones are selected from countries around the world and where possible, depict the country of origin. The globe is then polished to form a smooth surface before the meridian and date lines are added with a fine silver thread. The names of the countries and geographical features are then added and the globe is sealed in a protective resin coating. The globe itself is 110mm or 4.5" in diameter. The dimensions of the whole piece is approx. 200mm or 8" high and 6" wide.
