This guy weighs about 350 pounds and has a top diameter of 30". Your bidding on the exact block that is pictured in this auction. Windshook butcher blocks are individually hand crafted. Each one different from any other. These whole tree - free standing blocks are both functional and beautiful. The main body of each block is selected from dead standing Ponderosa Pine. These mature trees usually die from lightening strikes or windshook condition, yet continue to stand. These trees after years of weathering (while standing) become beautifully colored from deep orange on the south facing side to almost black on the north facing side. These giants are typically quite old and have interesting and unique twists & knots in each block. Windshook butcher blocks are between 300 and 400 pounds heavy. Blocks are counter top height at 34" and the top width is 30" in diameter at the most. The tops of each block incorporate end grain Ash which is used for building integrity into each unit as well as being a top choice for any meat or fish cutting application. All surfaces, cut or left natural are given 4 to 6 coats of clear semigloss urethane. The Ash top (cutting surface) is treated with 5 to 8 coats of USDA approved Lemon Oil. Each Windshook butcher block is a one-of-a-kind built to withstand use for generations. We can take custom orders for various sizes, tree species & shapes.
