This is Brian's third personally-developed blend using the highest grade "Strictly Hard Bean" coffees from Honduras and Guatemala with the Dominican Bani which is highly sought as a base for blends. 100% Colombia Supremo A light roast delivering smooth, yet rich, coffee flavor. 100% Ethiopia Sidamo According to legend, Kaldi, a 9th century (A.D.) Abyssinian goatherd, noticed the peculiar excited behavior of his goats who had been eating the red berries from some nearby bushes. Kaldi tried some himself and experienced a similar sensation. In later years, the berries were roasted and brewed. Our selection of a Viennese-roasted Ethiopia coffee from the Sidamo province presents a heavy body and natural citrus character resembling blueberries. French Roast Blend This dark roast of Colombian Supremo offers a bold, robust cup of coffee. 100% SERC Guatemala Viennese Roast Roasted a touch lighter than French Roast, these beans host a smooth, medium body with a smoky aroma and aftertaste. 100% Hawaii Kauai Grown in the rich, volcanic soil and tropical climate of Hawaii. A distinctive taste and made in the USA. This not a "blend" with lower grade beans; these individually-wrapped podz contain 100% Arabica coffee from the island of Kauai's Hawaiian Estate Reserve. SERC Ecuador Puyango Dark roasted with intense and exquisite aroma, medium sharp acidity, floral body, and balanced flavor. A mix of spice, floral, and chocolate tones. 100% Hawaii Kona Extra Fancy From trees thriving in the unique combination of sunshine, rainfall, location, and volcanic soil, our 100% Kona coffee is cultivated on the slopes of Mount Hualalai and Mauna Loa in the Kona district on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The "Extra Fancy" grade has the least allowance for imperfections as compared to the other grades (Fancy, No. 1, Select, Prime, and No. 3). This is 100% Kona; it is not a blend with other varieties. SERC Intercontinental Italian Roast Blend Applying an italian roast to a combination of coffees from Nicaragua, Peru, Indonesia, and Ethiopia to produces a memorably heady and intense cupping experience. Brian's first concoction is a cosmopolitan representation of the four primary coffee-producing continents. Our italian roast is darker than viennese but lighter than french. SERC Peru Viennese Blend A Viennese roast of our full-body, Peruvian coffee enhances its spicy floral accents and nutty aftertaste. Grown in the rich soil of the Andes. A well-balanced bean. 100% SERC Sumatra Mandheling Sumatra Mandheling carries a smooth taste with a sweet and solid body, broad aroma and very little acidity. 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain Certified 100% Wallenford Estate coffee; your assurance that this coffee is of Blue Mountain grade and quality. A fine medium bodied treat which exudes a slight crisp, snap on the palate and holds the aftertaste. This coffee is rare, indeed; hence, the price tag. However, even if this coffee were mass produced, it would still garner a sizable differential on the open market due to it's most desirable flavor profile. We roast this coffee at the Viennese level to maximize and preserve the "value" for your palate. 100% SERC Thailand Himalaya Siam This coffee from Thailand is obtained from coffee plants grown at the Doi Tung Development Project on the Nang Non Mountain Range in Chiang Rai Province, 800-1,200 meters (2,625-3,937 ft.) above sea level. It has been derived from a cross of three Arabics cativars: Catimor, Catura and Catuai and then cross bred back to Caturra every 4-6 generations to maintain stable qualities. Thailand’s Princess Mother initiated the Doi Tung Development Project in 1988 to reforest the mountains. Arabica coffee was among one of the crops chosen to be grown by hilltribe peoples as poppy substitutes. The Princess Mother herself planted the first coffee plant on Doi Tung on 10 May 1992 and, at present, the hilltribes living on Doi Tung are able to permanently stop their poppy cultivation. Doi Tung coffee creates jobs for the local people and makes them self-sufficient, which is in line with the Princess Mother’s objective in enabling the people and the forest to co-exist, to prevent the people from cutting down trees, and to put an end to slash and burn farming as well as poppy cultivation. From this royal initiative, the project was commended by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and awarded the UNODC seal for use on all Doi Tung productsEach pod is individually wrapped and sealed with flavor-robbing oxygen replaced by nitrogen to ensure freshness for 12-18 months. The 10-gram pods are biodegradable and the coffee is 100% Arabica. All varieties labeled "SERC" are Socially and Environmentally Responsible Coffees. Socially and Environmentally Responsible Coffee is a combination of being organically-grown, providing adequate shade and shelter to birds, and being purchased from the farming cooperatives at fair trade prices (25-45% above regular natural coffee prices). Since Since the SenseoTM single pod-holder was designed for a pod with less coffee, some of our SenseoTM Customers use the double pod-holder with a single JavaPod. To help prevent some water from bypassing the JavaPod during the brew process in the larger double chamber, wet the pod and gently press it to the bottom of the (double) pod-holder. Even after brewing an eight-ounce cup, some folks have found that the same JavaPod contains enough coffee to brew a second 4-5 ounce cup. Enjoy!
