I usually recommend outside mount when ordering as it gives you a more gracious look and requires less precise measurements. You will be required to provide approximately 5 yards of fabric depending on your window length taller windows above 52" will require more fabric. I will provide the lining. The shade pictured in green within the listing was made with only 3 yards of fabric, because it was a solid and the fabric could be turned Horizontally it saved on fabric and lining. ( You would not be able to accomplish this using prints) Gathered Balloon Valances are meant to be full for more drama. A Balloon Valance can be make with less fabric, for this I would recommend a tailored box pleat valance.
