Description
I bought two of these gorgeous pillow cases in a wonderful shop on the Camp San Polo in Venice. In the store, they looked decidedly burgandy but when I got them home, into my library (burgandy and blue), they looked more RED - and more of an orange-red than a blue-red. So I am going to try and sell them and recoup some of the price I paid for them. This one was was $150 Euros ($225.00 US). The other one, listed separately, was 250 Euros (about $375 US).  This one, the plainer of the two, is 19 inches square. The design is a reproduction from the Italian Renaissance. Here is some information about the company that produces these pillows in Italy (pardon the clunky translation): "The style adopted by “La Contessina” is a modern interpretation of Italian Renaissance. Each article is part of a matching set, studied to the minute details to ensure that all products are original and prestigious. The workmanship is mostly performed by hand using both metal threads and velvet or taffeta appliqués. The fabrics that are utilized include embroidered velvet, voile with velvet appliqués, taffeta and golden-thread-embroidered silk. The quest for elegance and refined taste, combined with the determination to create products of outstanding quality both in materials and in style, are the company’s mission. Each article is fabricated with an unmistakable and authentic style, resulting from bibliographical research." From: http://www.lacontessina.com/en/index.htm This is a real bargain - not to mention, you don't have to go to Italy to get them!
