The casting is virtually perfect, from prime (totally clean) sources and is not porous- I know from 35 years of casting. Making this piece of art perfect for a kitchen that needs cleaning from time to time is certainly a professional task, and takes a good knowledge of metallurgy. It is ideal to set in a tile surround.
