A mellow texture with a solid structure and long finish makes this the perfect dessert wine or partner with strong cheeses. 1997 Barao de Vilar - Colheita Port 1997 Port is produced in the Douro region of Portugal along the Douro river and its fertile tributaries on steep terrain vineyards. As the world`s first designated wine region, Douro varietals remain the highly regarded Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. Colheita is a port from a single vintage, aged in oak casks for at least seven years and bottled upon demand. The Barao de Vilar Colheita 1997 has been carefully selected and matured in seasoned oak casks to produce a rich mellowness with the finest balance and elegance of old tawnies. Ready to drink, makes a delicious dessert wine and is the perfect finish for any meal. The Barao de Vilar LBV was foot trodden in granite "lagares" and later stored in large oak vats called "tonels." The special characteristics of the LBV are its richness, depth of flavor and attractive bouquet of honey and vanilla. In order to retain as much character and depth as possible, it has been bottled in the same ways as a Vintage Port without cold-stabilization, as a result there may be some sediment but this is a sign of a good quality wine.
