Description
Ganoderma lucidum, Reishi, Ling Chi Mushroom You are looking at a MyShoominBag™ kit to grow the mysterious medicinal mushroom commonly called the Reishi mushroom, Artists Conk and Ling Chi. This beautiful mushroom is very easy to grow and is fascinating to watch. The Reishi mushroom is very forgiving and will grow outside of the “perfect” conditions which make it well suited for the home cultivator. It is also one of the coolest mushrooms to watch grow! This mushroom has been used for centuries by Kings and other royalty and used to make a tea and it came to be known as “the mushroom of immortality” from its medicinal qualities. The mushroom itself is not edible because it is so very hard and is often used to make a tea. We can not make any medical claims for this mushroom but an internet search will turn up many hours of reading about the multitude of things this mushroom is reputed to help with. Each Reishi mushroom kit will come with a syringe containing a live liquid culture, a Wood Based MyShoominBag™ with built in injector port and filter patch, an alcohol wipe and Humidity tent. The instructions for use are outlined below and will also be included with the kit. The culture and MyShroominBag™ are produced by The MycoFactory LLC and will be available on their eBay Store along with several other cultures, kits, MyShroominBag™ formulas, and supplies. http://stores.ebay.com/mycofactory Original quality MyShroominBag™ product that began a new era in home mushroom cultivation. MyShroominBag™ was formerly introduced as MycoBag in 2001 and now has been re-named because of the many other products now seen accross the web that go by our original product name. MyShroominBag™ is a distinctive product and should have a distinctive name to preserve it's place as a high quality and better product. The MycoFactory LLC is the manufacturer and reserves all rights to its name, trademark and proprietary formulas. To keep costs low we only ship on Mondays & Fridays. We will occasionally ship more often as needs require. Directions for use: Upon arrival unfold the MyShroominBag™, allowing the extra material to stand straight up. Locate the small foam disk sealed and attached in a plastic housing near the base of the MyShroominBag™. This disc is the self-healing injector site. Note: The disc will be covered by a small plastic shield. Do not attempt to remove the plastic covering the disc, you will inject through it. Sterilize a small section of the outside of the MyShroominBag™ (on the plastic shield) directly over the foam disc with an alcohol soaked wipe. With the same alcohol soaked wipe, sterilize the needle on your inoculation plunger. Inoculate the substrate (material inside the bag) with the inoculation plunger solution by inserting the needle through the plastic shield and foam disc at the previously sterilized spot. Squirt 3cc - 10cc of the culture solution directly into the substrate material. After injection, remove plunger from hole. The self-healing foam disc will seal the puncture site. DO NOT insert the needle through the white filter patch found near the top of the MyShroominBag™. Place the MyShroominBag™ in a dark location and incubate at 70-80F. Note: During drier summer and winter months it is advisable to store the MyShroominBag™ in a humid location. Excessively dry environments may draw moisture from the MyShroominBag™. Because colonization will begin in the interior of the substrate material it may take between 14-20 days for you to notice the spreading of colonizing mycelium towards the outside of the Bag. Speed of colonization is directly affected by incubation temperatures, please check to make sure you are incubating the bag at the correct temperature. Typical colonization time is between 30-40 days. When colonization is 100% complete you will initiate the fruiting stage of the mushroom. Move Bag(s) to a location with indirect light (indoor light or filtered sunlight is best). Allow the Bags to receive 12 hours of indirect light per day (direct fluorescent lighting works as well). Reduce temperature to 65-75F. With a sharp knife cut several "X's" into the bag at the middle of the substrate layer. We recommend cutting 1-3 holes into each bag spaced around the substrate. The Ganoderma lucidum fruitbodies (often referred to as antlers) will form from these holes. Make each incision in your "X" punctures at least 1/2 inch long. For best results, fold the upper portion of the bag under the substrate block (make sure not to obstruct areas where you made your incisions). Place the punctured Bag on a small clean diner plate or similar object (to catch excess moisture). Loosely drape the supplied humidity tent over the punctured bag. Using a hand sprayer filled with clean water, mist the interior of your humidity tent regularly to keep water droplets present on the plastic. Maintain these conditions for 1-2 weeks and you will begin to notice solid growth slowly protruding from the incisions made in the bag. Growth is very slow and may take several days to show noticeable differences. The antlers will slowly form, with the primary growth edge appearing white and then darkening to deep red/purple as growth continues. This can be a very slow growing mushroom. In the final stages of growth the developing antler will begin to flatten out at its terminus and form a small shelf-like growth with white porous surface towards the bottom. This is the spore producing expression of the antler. Harvest your antlers after this shelf is fully formed and sporulation (the production of spores) has begun. You will notice the presence of spores (brown dusty material) on the interior of your bag and on the surface of the dinner plate, this is a sign it is harvest time! Reishi mushrooms can be dried at low heat in a food dehydrator or simply left in the open air until all moisture has been removed. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
