The scraper blade is 2-7/8" wide and 1/8" thick, hardened to Rc 55, soft enough to burnish but hard enough to hold an edge. With the blade sharpened and set properly in the plane it is ideal for finishing large flat surfaces like table tops and will produce a final finish on most difficult hardwoods.
