Chemicals and soaps are used to clean carpets, but not all of the chemical is extracted from the carpet during the process. Some experts say that, depending on the chemicals and equipment used, as much as 75% of the chemical can remain in the carpet. Most chemicals work by bonding with the soils in the carpet, thus allowing both the chemical and the soil to be extracted. Unfortunately, this process does not stop when the cleaner leaves the premises. Instead, the chemicals continue right on bonding and locking in dirt. Hot water / steam evaporates faster, reducing over wetting of padding and potential mold and mildew growth. Hotter water breaks down water-soluble soiling faster. Heat acts as a catalyst promoting quicker reactions between chemicals and the soil." 1. The carpet below was actually "cleaned" (image 1) with a Rug Doctor, lots of soap and "stain removers" purchased for Rug Doctor "Steam Cleaners" by a soap crazed tenant with the "more is better theory". 2. We injected "actual" steam and heated water from the Desiderio - the soap residue left from the previous method began to foam excessively (image 2). 3. The water filtration system was filled with not only dirty water from the "cleaned" carpet, but also the soap that had been left in the fibers was extracted out of the carpet (image 3). 4. The Desiderio not only removed all of the soap in the fibers - also cleaned the stain and carpet far better than any other method. Finally, chemical free, far improved appearance, healthier and will extend life to the carpet. (image 4). Many home and rental store carpet machines advertise the term "Steam Cleaners" however, this term is used incorrectly and can be misleading to the consumer. There must be a heating element in a product to enable the actual heating of water to an optimal temperature for thorough cleaning. We have yet to find a Hoover, Rug Doctor or Bissell that offers this feature. However, they do offer many varieties of...... pre-treatments, cleaners, enzymes, anti-foamers, spot removers, traffic area treatments, odor removers, pet stain removers etc. for purchase to clean your carpets with the machine. Whew! No other steam extraction system on the market in a standard 110 electrical outlet can produce the high dry steam temperature and extraction capability as the Desiderio. Vapor is a gas that has about a 5-6% moisture content. As all gasses do, when vapor contacts the atmosphere it expands violently and dissipates. Vapor molecules are extremely small and are able to penetrate the pores on any surface. When the hot vapor molecules come in contact with the cool surface in the pores, they violently expand and force all dirt, debris and bacteria to the surface. Because the vapor molecules are so hot, bacteria as well as most other harmful pathogens are killed. The result is a surface that is free of any substance that was not on the original surface. Testimonials From: Rich Hopkins To: Joanne Shinko Sent: Wednesday, May 14, 2008 8:54 AM Subject: Re: vapor clean products Joanne, thanks for the follow up. I did a whale of a lot of searching before settling on the Vapor Clean product and for sure there is a lot of totally misleading advertising hype out there. I am very pleased with the unit thus far. One outflit plainly stated you could not have vacuum and vapor from the same unit running on standard 110 house current. Obviously your unit disproves that claim. My principal goal was finding something which would clean some relatively new blue carpeting which seems to show dirt very readily. My grandson spilled chocolate milk on it and that stain had remained over a year. I had tried all sorts of things including the rental units from stores; all were miserable failures. It took some effort, but Vapor Clean did get the carpeting clean and looking good again. Since then I have used your unit for all sorts of things. Yesterday I cleaned off mold and mildew which had set in on the vinyl siding of our home. It did an OK job on that. I simply love to use it to clean our vinyl flooring in the kitchen. Used to be an awful chore which never seemed to come out right. Rich Hopkins Re: vapor clean Desiderio 1/8/2007 3:13:21 PM Eastern Standard Time Thanks again. I also, LOVE my Desiderio, although I am still getting used to it! I'm cleaning everything in sight, including removed all the old paint off a concrete basement floor that was peeling and had mold and mildew growth under the paint. Of course, I did not use the Desiderio vacuum as I didn't want all the paint chips in the Desiderio, instead, I would wait for a while after removing the paint (using a stainless detail brush) until the loose paint dried then simply used my house central vacuum to clean up the dry paint chip mess. I worked today at my folk's house disinfecting their carpeting with the steam and extraction. Even though they had vacuumed well before I arrived, you wouldn't believe the dog hair and dirt in the water! Richard G Vermont 3/16/2006 1:31:20 AM Eastern Standard Time I love the Desiderio. First off, let me say that the quality of the product is amazing. It seems like more of a commercial grade product than a consumer one. My husband calls me a clean freak because I am constantly cleaning something. I felt that my house was pretty much as clean as it could get - until I used this. I couldn't believe the stuff that was removed from around the faucets in my bathrooms. It was disgusting. Anyway, after owning this and cleaning with it for a while I am more confidant in the cleanliness of my home. I basically use it for almost every cleaning task that I perform in my house. Things seem to stay cleaner longer because I am not putting chemicals on the surfaces that I clean. My hardwood floors are where I have seen a huge difference. They used to look dull within a day after cleaning. Since using the steam, they look so much better, and I know they are REALLY clean. My favorite part about the Desiderio is that it can extract, which is great when cleaning carpets. I have two little children, and they manage to leave messes everywhere. This machine has never failed to remove a carpet stain - using only the steam, no added cleaners. The best part is that the stain doesn't come back!!! I really can't give any negative feedback. I have never had any problems with this cleaner. I would gladly give the Desiderio a 5 star rating. Thanks so much for an outstanding product!Sincerely,Jessica Gould Hi, Regarding the cleaner, I love that thing. I have discovered a negative though. It is such a deep cleaning machine, that I have to clean some spots 6+x. Reason being, the foaming issue. I have had this carpet for 7+ years and have used every chemical cleaner on the market, and as a result, I am removing 7+ years of soap, sprays, deodorizers etc. from it, which makes Desi foam at the mouth. Even though the water level isn't increased in the retainer area, the cleaner products are reactivated. Any suggestions ? Best Regards,Deborah Romanoski GRI 3:42:04 PM Eastern Standard Time Subj: DesiderioHi, I've really enjoyed the product and use it often for both regular and odd jobs. While I didn't purchase the machine for window cleaning I was amazed at how well it cleans windows! I've also used it on floors, carpets, furniture, auto interiors and bathroom surfaces. I've had no problems with the machine at all -- it just works! Rick Graves Hello there,I recently bought a Desiderio, and I love it. I have been cleaning everything. I have started to clean the carpet in our office-it looks so nice and smells clean. It is an amazing machine, and I am so glad I bought it.I wanted to order some of the crevice brushes, but didn't find them on your site. Do you have an order form or a list of products I can order?Thank you for your time,Claudia 4/28/2006 11:56:50 PM Eastern Standard TimeYou can add me to your testimonials page. The cleaner works fantastic. What a super tool. I have had to watch the back end of the unit for all the soap spray that comes out of most carpets. I am putting about the same amount of elbow grease into most jobs but the satisfaction of getting ALL the crud out is huge. If your are interested in getting all the way down deep into the carpet and getting them as clean as they can possibly get, the Desiderio is way to go. Thank you. 3/23/2006 11:04:49 AM Eastern Standard Time We mainly purchased the Desiderio to clean our silk plants throughout our community, which currently numbers to 87 plants and as we continue to complete build-out in the next 5 years these plants will total over 380 plants. Instead of taking these plants (which many are trees and palms) outside to hose down and wait to dry, we are able just to steam clean them right in their location, saving lots of labor. Other areas we love the Desiderio is for cleaning the elevator tracks and getting the dust off the base of the living room and dining room chairs and tables. Don Robertson, Housekeeping Manager Sedgebrook - Lincolnshire, IL Auto Detailing made easier with the use of Dry Vapor Steamers Written by Kevin Farrell Kevin Farrell owns and operates Kleen Car Auto Appearance, a highly successful training school in New Milford, NJ. Kevin has integrated dry steam vapor, as many detailers have in the past few years into their operations. This method has become an integral part of their key to success. The extraction ability of the Desiderio has increased his capabilities and profitability. Kevin shares his expertise below. Hello, my name is Kevin Farrell. I own and operate Kleen Car Auto Appearance, a full service Auto Detail facility in New Jersey. We also run the most comprehensive detail training program available in the industry, which trains detailers to become skilled technicians in this field www.kleencarauto.com. We implemented this training program for BMW of North America and it is used to certify their network of dealers in Auto detailing. We also are heavily involved in product and equipment development and testing to ultimately make life easier for detailers and at the same time improve the appearance of the automobiles they work on. Over the years we have spoken and presented at industry events, and have written dozens of technically oriented articles on detailing procedures for major publications. We also work with auto manufacturers, paint companies, chemical and equipment manufacturers to further aid the detailing industry. Our skill, knowledge, and expertise allow us to use and test various pieces of equipment to determine if their usage in detailing will ultimately save time, make the vehicles look better, and make a detailer more money. We always want to stay up to date and have a “new school” philosophy of thinking regarding detailing practices. The use of dry vapor steamers to aid in cleaning the interior portion of a vehicle is something a detailer should seriously consider adding to his arsenal of equipment. Years ago, even before heated carpet extractors, details had the old “bucket and brush” method of cleaning interiors. Not only is this “old school”, this is simply the wrong way to clean. Most detailers now have heated carpet extractors which are light years ahead of the “bucket and brush” method, but let’s look at what a dry vapor steamer can do for detailing. Many advantages The advantages are numerous. For those who still look at steam machines and think of the cheap “toy like” devices seen on TV, you are in for quite a surprise. A commercial steam machine will aid and work wonders in the interior cleaning process. The power, effectiveness, and time savings alone should convince you to buy one. If you are still skeptical, read on….. I too was not a steam fan until recently. I associated steamers with the “TV units” and found them to be cheap, ineffective, and a waste of time for car use. However, a proper steam machine, not only will perform BETTER than a carpet extractor, but has many more uses A steamer will get into areas a carpet extractor only wishes to. A steamer can clean between seats, consoles, dashes, cup holders, vents, door pockets, door jambs, and more. A steamer WILL NOT leave an interior soaking wet the way some carpet extractors will. A major reason for mold and mildew and odors within an interior of a vehicle is because of over-wetting with an extractor. Steam dries within seconds. A steamer will clean hard surfaces that an extractor cannot A steamer will clean leather seats better than using harsh chemicals and a brush. It will leave leather soft and supple and still require less time and effort. Of course with a steamer all you are using super heated water. No chemicals are needed which keeps the interior drier, saves money on those chemicals, and still leaves the inside smelling fresh, not harsh, and there will be no fear of a customer being sensitive to the chemicals, because you will not be using any! The Desiderio steamer, with its vacuum unit and injection or extraction system built right in will allow you to steam and/or extract carpets and upholstery and immediately vacuum the dirt right out. You can even use it as a regular vacuum. A steamer can even be used to clean windows to perfection. All the Vapor Clean steamers are built to last and out perform the competition. They are commercial grade to handle any detailing use, and built to last. Disadvantages There simply are none. They are the cutting edge of interior cleaning. As outlined in many areas of this website are the advantages and immense cleaning abilities of steam. Get out of the “stone age” Don’t be “old school” be on the cutting edge of detailing and start cleaning with steam! Cleaning Interior Doors - Leather, Vinyl and Upholstery clean exceptionally well with steam. Oils and greasy buildups commonly found in autos melt away under this method of cleaning. Carpet is easily cleaned and freshened with steam Cleaning leather seats is a simple process. Consoles, air conditioning vents, virtually all interior surfaces begin the detailing process. Remove car seat marks easily for better resale value. Glass is sparkling clean - detailers have used only water on windows for years for best results - steam works that much better! Commercial or Residential Use Live healthy and breathe easier with Vapor Clean
